James Scott was the third son of James Scott and Mary. He was born about 1836 in Clark County, Indiana and found with his parents in the 1850 Census, Clark County, Indiana. His age was listed at 14.

James Scott married Angeline Knower, 6 February 1859 in Independence County, Arkansas. He was 23 and she was 15. They are not found in the 1860 Census for Independence County, Arkansas. I did not find a Knower family in 1850 Census, whole state of Arkansas. Nor, did I find any family by various spellings (phonetic) of the name Knower. It is possible this family came to Arkansas and were there during the years between the 1850 and 1860, and left Independence County, Arkansas before the 1860 Census was taken.

No further research on James and wife Angeline, yet

There is a slight indication that some of James Scott's sons went back to Indiana, but this has not been investigated yet. - Brenda Tengelin
